The congressman for Nuevas Ideas, José Urbina, stated that in the absence of a regulatory framework for organ donation and transplantation, previous legislatures facilitated organ trafficking, an illegal practice that put the lives of Salvadorans at risk.

This afternoon, President Nayib Bukele posted on social networks the full version of a video where he welcomed special guests yesterday, at the launch of the second economic boost and expansion of the passenger terminal at El Salvador International Airport.

The video clearly shows how the president courteously prioritizes handshakes with Congresswoman Marcela Pineda, the only woman among the group, and then proceeds to handshake with the gentlemen present at the event.

President Bukele quoted a tweet posted from the photojournalist Oscar Machon’s account, exposing the mean-spirited way behind the evidently altered video contained in the social media post. The former FMLN deputy, Jorge Schafik Hándal, came out in defense of the ARENA party member, Ernesto Muyshondt, who is in prison for the crime of misappropriation of tax withholdings when he served as mayor of the capital. 

Muyshondt is being held at the La Esperanza Penal Center, better known as “Mariona”. Nevertheless, Hándal asked that he be given the benefit of house arrest since it is a “very symbolic case,” he mentioned at the same time, adding that Muyshondt “is being a victim of a lot of bad things in jail” without giving further details or evidence of their statements.
