El Salvador Opens Its Doors to Global Startups as Innovation Ecosystem Grows 520%.

El Salvador is ready to welcome startups interested in establishing operations in the country, according to Economy Minister María Luisa Hayem, who highlighted the government’s efforts to create a favorable environment for entrepreneurs and innovative businesses. “El Salvador is ready to receive startups that want to establish themselves here and enjoy this business climate. We have focused on making life easier for investors, and that is what we have been working on,” Hayem said during the opening of the GET Forum, taking place on December 1 and 2.

Startups, known for their innovative and fast-growing business models driven largely by information and communication technologies, have become a key focus of the country’s economic strategy. The minister explained that through agreements and coordinated government actions, El Salvador offers comprehensive support to entrepreneurs seeking to grow locally and internationally. “We have all come together to ensure that our startups have everything they need to succeed, while also attracting technology companies from abroad to settle in our country,” she stated.

Hayem revealed that El Salvador’s innovation ecosystem has grown by 520 percent, a figure she attributed to coordinated efforts among startups, established companies, universities, and investment funds. She also noted that this progress led to San Salvador being recognized as the fastest-growing city in the world in terms of strengthening innovation ecosystems, underscoring the country’s rapid technological advancement.

The GET Forum brings together entrepreneurs, investors, and technology sector leaders to promote cooperation and knowledge exchange across Latin America and the Caribbean. This year’s edition will feature more than 130 speakers, including startup executives, investors, public officials, and technology specialists, reinforcing El Salvador’s position as an emerging center for innovation and investment.
