El Salvador continues to promote strategic initiatives that enhance security and development across the Surf City project, with a strong focus on youth training. This Monday, government officials took part in the First Annual Surf City Water Safety El Salvador 2025 Congress, an event that brought together more than 600 residents from the Surf City I and II zones.
“We are at the First Annual Surf City Water Safety El Salvador 2025 Congress. This year, each of you received training. We can say that around 615 people are now prepared, know CPR, first aid, and can react to any emergency situation,” said Ezequiel Luján, coordinator of the Surf City Water Safety Program. He also highlighted the work of the Ministry of Tourism and the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation (Corsatur) in promoting El Salvador’s beaches.
Corsatur’s Executive Director, Alexandra Durán, emphasized the human impact of the initiative. “We are happy because you have taken advantage of these trainings. Many of the children have told us they want to become lifeguards when they grow up because they want to save lives,” she expressed.
Tourism Minister Morena Valdez underlined the international vision behind the program. “Surf City is an emblematic project for President Nayib Bukele. We are working to promote and position the country internationally, and for that we must be prepared for any emergency in all our tourist destinations,” she said. The official also recognized the support of the Civil Protection Lifeguard Unit and reaffirmed that El Salvador continues to strengthen technical training nationwide to ensure safer beaches and resilient coastal communities.
