El Salvador’s education modernization agenda is receiving continued financial and technical support from CAF, with digital infrastructure and data-driven management emerging as key components of the country’s efforts to strengthen its education system.
During a visit to El Salvador, CAF Executive President Sergio Díaz-Granados and Minister of Education Karla Trigueros visited the OEI School in Santa Tecla, highlighting the implementation of initiatives aimed at modernizing educational services.
CAF has supported El Salvador’s education agenda since 2022. Its financing has included a USD 150 million operation approved that year to support teacher training in technology and innovation, improve educational environments and reduce the digital divide.
A central element of the broader modernization process is the development of national digital education infrastructure, designed to connect information on students, teachers, schools and learning processes. CAF says this integrated approach is intended to strengthen school management, improve decision-making and facilitate the expansion of successful initiatives nationwide.
CAF has continued expanding its support for El Salvador’s education system. In March 2025, it approved an additional USD 100 million project focused on educational technology, infrastructure, teacher development and school management, with an expected reach of approximately 100,000 students and 2,000 teachers.
The collaboration reflects a broader effort to combine education, technology and innovation in El Salvador, with digital tools and integrated information systems becoming part of the country’s strategy to modernize education and prepare students for the demands of an increasingly digital economy.
