Developed as part of the country’s efforts to improve maternal and newborn care in El Salvador, the Mini Nido offers individualized environments where families can receive guidance and support while preparing for delivery. The facility incorporates resources for maternal stimulation and non-pharmacological pain management, promoting a more comfortable childbirth experience.
The space brings together several essential areas, including evaluation and preparation rooms, operating rooms, and rooming-in facilities that allow mothers and newborns to remain together after delivery.
The Mini Nido is also connected to the hospital’s Breast Milk Collection Center and the Neonatology area of the Pediatric Emergency Department, creating a coordinated environment for maternal and newborn care.
A multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals supports families throughout the process, providing specialized guidance before, during, and after childbirth.
According to El Salvador’s Ministry of Health, the initiative seeks to ensure that mothers and babies have access to safe, appropriate, and well-equipped healthcare environments, while making the birth experience more supportive and family-centered.
