El Salvador is gaining international recognition for its natural heritage after El Imposible National Park was selected by Condé Nast Traveler as one of its seven “wonders of the world” to visit in 2026.
The travel publication highlighted the protected area as one of Central America’s lesser-known wilderness destinations, emphasizing its dramatic landscapes, biodiversity and remote natural attractions. The park features deep canyons, waterfalls, forested mountains and habitats for rare wildlife, including pumas.
Among the experiences highlighted by Condé Nast Traveler is the historic route once used by coffee farmers and muleteers to transport crops from the mountainous region toward Acajutla. The challenging trail and its historic passage across the mountains reflect the distinctive cultural and natural heritage found within the park.
The international recognition places El Imposible National Park among a select group of global destinations recommended for travelers in 2026, strengthening El Salvador’s profile as a destination for ecotourism, biodiversity and adventure travel.
