El Salvador is expanding its efforts to build a stronger technology workforce through a renewed collaboration between the Government and Platzi, one of Latin America’s leading online education platforms.
This Thursday, Secretary of Innovation Daniel Méndez met with Platzi CEO Freddy Vega to explore the addition of new courses to the Certifícate platform, with a focus on artificial intelligence, English, leadership, soft skills, entrepreneurship, and other capabilities increasingly demanded by the global economy.
The meeting builds on an alliance announced by President Nayib Bukele that provides Salvadorans, both inside and outside the country, with free virtual and asynchronous access to Platzi’s educational resources. Vega highlighted El Salvador’s growing interest in technology and continuous learning, describing its population as increasingly proactive about developing new skills and shaping their professional futures.
Méndez emphasized that developing human capital is essential to the country’s ambition of becoming a technology hub for the region. He also highlighted the recent launch of certifications covering more than 37 training pathways through the National Institute for Training and Development (INCAF), adding formal certification to the learning opportunities already available through Platzi.
The expanded partnership positions digital education, AI skills, and professional training as key components of El Salvador’s technology strategy, while reinforcing opportunities for Salvadorans to participate in the evolving global digital economy.
