President Nayib Bukele’s Government Showcases Salvadoran Talent at Cerro Verde Art & Design Festival

The Government of President Nayib Bukele celebrated a new edition of the Art & Design Festival at Cerro Verde Natural Park, highlighting the growing international appeal of Salvadoran creativity and the country’s expanding cultural and tourism industries.

The event brought together government officials, entrepreneurs, designers, artisans, and visitors to showcase products developed through SMODA, a platform supported by the National Commission for Micro and Small Enterprises (CONAMYPE) that promotes Salvadoran design, craftsmanship, and innovation.

According to CONAMYPE President Paul Steiner, the SMODA cluster was launched in 2019 to help traditional artisans adapt ancestral techniques into contemporary products capable of competing in national and international markets. He noted that between 35 and 70 new brands join the platform each year and that approximately 90% begin exporting within their first year, with recent shipments reaching markets such as Spain and the United States.

Minister of Tourism Morena Valdez emphasized that El Salvador’s improved security has made events of this scale possible. She stated that festivals like this strengthen the connection between tourism and fashion by inspiring visitors while showcasing the country’s creative identity.

Meanwhile, Minister of Culture Raúl Castillo highlighted the role of CONAMYPE in supporting artisans and small businesses, enabling them to transform innovative ideas into products that promote El Salvador’s culture on the international stage.

The festival reflects El Salvador’s broader strategy to strengthen its creative economy, expand opportunities for local entrepreneurs, and position Salvadoran design and craftsmanship as competitive cultural exports in global markets.
