El Salvador’s Exports Reach US$3.4 Billion, Set Records in 16 International Markets

El Salvador’s export sector maintained strong momentum during the first half of 2026, with merchandise exports reaching US$3.401 billion, reflecting continued expansion in both value and market diversification.

According to figures shared by Minister of Economy María Luisa Hayem, exports increased 4% in value and 10% in volume compared with the first half of 2025, confirming the sustained growth of the country’s productive sector despite a challenging global economic environment.

The first-half results also marked a milestone for Salvadoran trade, with the country achieving record export levels in 16 international markets. Among the leading destinations were Guatemala (US$662 million), Mexico (US$145 million), and Morocco (US$21 million), highlighting the continued diversification of El Salvador’s export portfolio.

Hayem emphasized that the figures demonstrate the growing dynamism of Salvadoran exports, with a broader range of products reaching an increasing number of international markets. She noted that this diversification is helping strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of the national economy.

The latest trade results reinforce El Salvador’s strategy to expand its global commercial presence, increase export opportunities for local industries, and strengthen economic growth through greater access to international markets.
