El Salvador has taken another step in strengthening its international connectivity with the signing of an agreement that will bring Air Europa to the country, launching a new direct route between San Salvador and Madrid beginning this December.
President Nayib Bukele participated in the signing ceremony, describing the new service as the beginning of broader air connectivity with Europe.
“A new airline will connect us with Europe, starting with direct flights to Madrid and, very soon, to other cities,” President Bukele stated.
According to the Presidency of El Salvador, the agreement formally incorporates Air Europa into the country’s expanding air network, creating a direct link with the Spanish capital while laying the foundation for future connections to additional European destinations.
Authorities emphasized that the new route is expected to strengthen tourism, facilitate business travel, support the Salvadoran diaspora, and attract greater foreign investment by improving access between Europe and El Salvador.
The addition of Air Europa reflects El Salvador’s ongoing strategy to expand international air connectivity and reinforce its position as a regional hub for tourism, commerce, and global investment. The new Madrid route is expected to enhance travel options for passengers while opening new opportunities for economic and cultural exchange between El Salvador and Europe.
