World Bank Chief Visits El Salvador to Explore AI-Powered Health and Education Projects.

El Salvador is rapidly positioning itself as a regional hub for technological innovation, drawing high-level international scrutiny. During an official visit to strengthen multilateral cooperation, World Bank President Ajay Bangamet with President Nayib Bukele to witness firsthand how the Central American nation is integrating artificial intelligence into core public infrastructure.

A key highlight of the tour included a visit to the OEI School Center in Santa Tecla, where students interact with a state-of-the-art Learning Experience Platform driven by AI. Banga also toured the facilities of DoctorSV, El Salvador’s groundbreaking national telehealth network. The platform harnesses machine learning to streamline automated triage and virtual consultations, modernizing public medical access nationwide.

Beyond digital public services, the visit zeroed in on economic expansion and private sector engagement. Alongside Tourism Minister Morena Valdez, Banga joined global investors to discuss high-impact opportunities, observing that “El Salvador’s proactive approach to merging technology with public services creates a compelling model for sustainable economic growth and multilateral investment.”

This strategic meeting highlights the World Bank’s growing commitment to backing El Salvador’s digital and economic transformation.
