El Salvador is preparing for Bitcoin Histórico, a two-day international event that will unite global voices and local culture in the heart of San Salvador. Organized by the National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC), the celebration will take place on November 12 and 13 and will feature the free distribution of 21,000 pupusas in Plaza Gerardo Barrios.
The pupusas, prepared without industrial vegetable oils and using beef fat to honor traditional methods, will be served starting November 12 at 10:00 a.m. on a “first come, first served” basis. According to the ONBTC, “this event represents a celebration of the new Salvadoran culture being built on integrity, community, and economic sovereignty.”
Bitcoin Histórico goes beyond technology and finance, transforming into a cultural celebration open to all. The event will include art, workshops, and public learning spaces highlighting Bitcoin’s role in social transformation. Influential figures such as Ricardo Salinas Pliego, Max Keiser, Stacy Herbert, Jimmy Song, and others will participate, while British actor Russell Brand will host an open conversation at the National Palace.
The festivities will conclude on November 13 with a show of drones, fireworks, and a grand closing party at La Dalia—marking another step in El Salvador’s mission to blend innovation with tradition and celebrate its national identity through community and flavor.
