El Salvador’s humanitarian mission in Jamaica has entered a new phase, extending its support to communities most affected by Hurricane Melissa. Following President Nayib Bukele’s directive, Salvadoran teams continue working on the ground, restoring safety and stability in areas where residents are still recovering from the storm’s impact.
This week, the contingent successfully completed operations in Burnt Savanna, where they removed fallen trees and cleared residential zones that had been rendered unsafe. Equipped with specialized machinery brought from El Salvador, the teams restored access to several blocked roads and reduced immediate risks to homes and families.
“The Salvadoran crew arrived quickly and worked efficiently to clear our streets. We are deeply grateful for their help,” said one resident of Burnt Savanna, reflecting the appreciation expressed across the community.
Personnel from the National Fire Department, Civil Protection, the Armed Forces, and the National Police have been coordinating closely to ensure that recovery tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
