In a major step toward modernizing public services and promoting economic competitiveness, El Salvador’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) has successfully simplified 45 administrative procedures, which are now officially registered in the National Registry of Procedures (RNT).
The announcement was made by Mariana Gómez, Executive Director of the Regulatory Improvement Agency (OMR), who confirmed that the updated procedures eliminate unnecessary steps and reduce processing times by an average of 64%. These changes are expected to benefit farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs, and service users across the productive sector.

“Simplification, elimination of unnecessary requirements, and registration in the RNT are priority actions to provide optimal services and agile responses to users,” Gómez stated on the social media platform X.
This effort is part of a broader national strategy aimed at streamlining public administration, improving transparency, and encouraging investment. To date, 27 public institutions — including the Ministries of Health, Economy, Public Works, and the National Registry Center — have simplified a total of 1,346 procedures across government platforms.
The initiative is supported by the SIMEJORA digital platform (simejora.omr.gob.sv), which enables citizens to access up-to-date information on all legally compliant and simplified procedures. The optimization process includes diagnostics, legal reviews, reengineering, and digitization through a 14-step framework developed by the OMR.

“We seek to transform public administration and maximize the optimization of procedures. This will translate into investment, competitiveness, and trade facilitation,” added Gómez.
By cutting red tape and enhancing user experience, the MAG reaffirms its commitment to building a more efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused government. The reform is expected to stimulate productivity in El Salvador’s agricultural sector and further strengthen the country’s business climate.
