Anti-Gang Operation in Schools: El Salvador Dismantles Emerging Criminal Group.

The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of El Salvador (@FGR_SV), in coordination with the National Civil Police (@PNCSV), has executed a strategic operation to dismantle an emerging gang operating within the school system. This action is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to eradicating organized crime under the #CombateAPandillas initiative.

Arrest warrants were carried out at the General Francisco Menéndez Institute (INFRAMEN), the Albert Camus National Institute, and the National Technical Industrial Institute (INTI). Authorities report that the individuals involved were organizing criminal acts on school grounds and seeking to recruit more students into their group.

According to the investigation, those arrested had been intimidating other students and are also linked to sexual assaults, drug use, and physical violence against classmates and students from other institutions.

As part of the operation, 40 arrest warrants have been executed to date, and searches were conducted at the detainees’ homes to gather additional evidence. The suspects will be prosecuted for criminal association and other serious offenses.

This operation underscores the Bukele administration’s strict stance against gang resurgence, particularly in spaces intended for education and youth development. The Attorney General’s Office reaffirmed that any form of gang activity—especially involving minors—will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
