In the first five years of President Nayib Bukele’s administration, El Salvador invested a historic $1.4 billion in education, surpassing all previous governments. This marks the highest-ever commitment to education funding, with an average of $1.411 billion invested annually, representing 4.40% of GDP—an unprecedented figure in the country’s history.

The government also prioritized the National University of El Salvador (UES), increasing its budget from $100 million under prior administrations to $130 million per year. Additionally, $52 million has been allocated to remodel and expand UES infrastructure, with 25 buildings renovated and 12 new ones constructed.

Technological improvements have been integrated nationwide, with fiber optics and Starlink internet installation reaching 80% of schools, aiming to provide high-speed internet access for all students. President Bukele emphasized that unlike past governments, which failed to meet investment promises, his administration has delivered substantial results in education quality, infrastructure, and connectivity.
El Salvador is on a transformative path, setting new standards in education investment and access, signaling a commitment to building a modern and equitable educational system.
