Salvadoran Artist Paints Mural in Qatar Celebrating 22 Years of Diplomatic Friendship.

The vibrant torogoz and falcon, national birds of El Salvador and Qatar, now share space in a striking mural at Katara Cultural Village in Doha. Created by Salvadoran artist Rodolfo Díaz (Rodo), the piece celebrates 22 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations, with support from El Salvador’s Embassy in Qatar.

“A mural is a powerful visual symbol, capable of telling a story in a lasting way,” said Ambassador Eduardo Umaña. “This work reflects the friendship and cooperation between our countries, while highlighting our cultural identity through the torogoz.”

The ambassador emphasized that the mural is not only a diplomatic gesture, but a source of pride for Salvadorans living abroad. “It strengthens their sense of belonging while placing Salvadoran art on the global stage,” he noted.

Rodo, known for murals across El Salvador and the U.S., including one of Mágico González for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, expressed gratitude for the opportunity. “I thank the embassy and Katara for allowing me to share my passion with a new audience,” he said.
