Chinese Distributors Discover the Authentic Taste of El Salvador at Liquor Tasting Event.

A special tasting event held in the city of Hangzhou brought together Chinese liquor experts, distributors, and business leaders to explore a curated selection of Salvadoran spirits, marking a significant step in El Salvador’s push to penetrate the Asian market.

Organized by the Embassy of El Salvador in China, with support from the Hangzhou Wine Association, the event was part of the country’s broader economic diplomacy strategy aimed at promoting and internationalizing its liquor industry.

Luis López, El Salvador’s ambassador in China, led the event and highlighted “the authenticity, tradition, and sophistication of Salvadoran spirits, as well as the growing interest among Chinese consumers for new sensory experiences with high-quality beverages.”

Represented brands included Cihuatán, Guazapa, Luna Spirits, Pamem, Tíc-Táck, Petit, and Distribuidora Salvadoreña. The selection emphasized unique production methods such as artisanal techniques, volcanic stone filtration, and diverse flavor profiles ranging from woody and spiced notes to fruity and tropical aromas that reflect the essence of El Salvador.

Commenting on the outcome, Ambassador López stated that “beyond a tasting experience, the event created new commercial pathways for Salvadoran brands in the dynamic Chinese market, showing the increasing openness of local consumers to distinctive, authentic products with cultural identity.”

The initiative aims to spark commercial opportunities and strengthen export ties between El Salvador and China in the months ahead.
