In an effort to strengthen ties and open new commercial opportunities for Salvadoran coffee, El Salvador’s Diplomatic Mission in China hosted a coffee tasting event in the city of Hangzhou, south of Beijing.

The event was organized in collaboration with the local Association of Coffee and Western Cuisine and showcased high-quality Salvadoran coffee specialties, globally recognized for their unique aromas and flavors.

“Salvadoran coffee stands out not only for its excellent taste and fragrance but also for its added value—its historical connection to our country and the environmentally sustainable practices of our coffee growers,” said El Salvador’s Ambassador to China, Luis López.

Samples were provided by Boquerón Coffee, a Salvadoran distributor, featuring varieties such as bourbon and the locally developed pacamara. Renowned Chinese roaster Liu Minyong, a bronze medalist in the national coffee roasting competition, led the preparation. His expertise highlighted the coffee’s complex profile, revealing chocolatey, floral, and fruity notes, with bright acidity and a juicy body that captivated attendees.

This initiative is part of the Salvadoran Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ broader strategy to promote national products abroad through its network of embassies and consulates, combining economic diplomacy with cultural outreach.
