As part of ongoing efforts to modernize infrastructure and meet the rising demand for tourism, a new check-in area was inaugurated today at El Salvador International Airport.
This expansion project, which will accommodate thousands of national and international passengers, represents an investment of $11.4 million.

“This expansion not only improves operational efficiency and passenger comfort but also positions us as a top-tier air hub. With increased passenger processing capacity, state-of-the-art technology, and reduced wait times, we are enhancing the travel experience,” stated Federico Anliker, president of the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA).
According to the official, the airport now boasts a total of 122 check-in points.
“Our airport now has a total of 122 check-in points and the capacity to serve 1,464 passengers per hour, increasing the number of service points by 48%. This improvement allows for a more streamlined passenger flow during airline check-in procedures,” he added.

Significant investments have also been made in technology, including the installation of cutting-edge X-ray machines and data center rooms.
This inauguration comes just ahead of the Easter holiday season, during which CEPA authorities anticipate handling more than 233,000 passengers, including arrivals, departures, and connecting travelers, with an average of over 15,000 travelers per day.

This figure represents a 3% increase compared to the data recorded in 2024.
During the event, Anliker also launched the 2025 Vacation Plan to enhance traveler assistance, which will be in effect from April 11 to April 25.
As part of the plan, more than 1,200 CEPA employees will be deployed to provide 24-hour service across various areas, including customer service, check-in, parking, baggage carts, cleaning, security, airport firefighters, the Airport Medical Unit, maintenance, ramp officers, and air traffic controllers, among others.
