El Salvador Presents Its Rum in India to Strengthen Commercial Ties.

To promote Salvadoran rum in the Indian market and establish new business relationships, the Embassy of El Salvador in India recently hosted the “Sabor a Tradición – Rum Tasting” event on March 20th. The event, organized in collaboration with the Forum of Indian Food Importers (FIFI) and Ron Cihuatán, targeted industry professionals such as restaurant directors, distributors, hotel managers, and other key figures in the hospitality sector.

The guided tasting session featured two varieties of Salvadoran rum, focusing on their flavor profiles, distillation, and aging processes. The event also provided a networking opportunity for importers and the Salvadoran producer to exchange contacts and discuss potential business opportunities.

The event was attended by Ambassador Guillermo Rubio Funes, Minister of Economy María Luisa Hayem, FIFI Director Amit Lohani, and Ron Cihuatán’s General Director Alexander Siliézar. In his opening speech, Ambassador Rubio highlighted the quality and authenticity of Ron Cihuatán, which stands out for its unique distillation and aging processes. “Ron Cihuatán represents the rich history and craftsmanship of El Salvador,” he noted.

Siliézar then presented the history and production process of Salvadoran rum, followed by the tasting of “Índigo,” an 8-year-old rum with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, and walnut, and “Xaman XO,” a 16-year-old premium rum with flavors of toasted balsamic, clove, and grilled pineapple. The event successfully showcased Salvadoran rum’s potential in the Indian market.
