El Salvador’s AirCity: A Bold Vision for Regional Trade and Aeronautics.

Construction of AirCity, El Salvador’s first airport free zone, is underway with earthworks that began in January. The $250 million project by Aristos Inmobiliaria aims to position the country as a regional hub for aeronautical maintenance and e-commerce logistics.

“Around these two pillars, we will develop supporting infrastructure like offices, data centers, and hotels,” said Edwin Escobar, CEO of Aristos Inmobiliaria. He confirmed that while earthworks and infrastructure development are ongoing, companies are already interested in establishing operations. “We have major players in both aeromaintenance and logistics ready to join,” he added.

Located next to Monseñor Romero Airport, AirCity spans 532,271 square meters and is expected to create 5,000 jobs. Escobar emphasized its strategic advantage: “The airport remains essential for logistics and distribution.”

El Salvador’s growing aviation industry, he noted, is backed by investors, infrastructure, and skilled talent. “We have all three, and AirCity will help drive regional growth,” he stated during a scholarship agreement signing between AirCity and the Key Institute at the ThinkHuge forum, Runway to Knowledge.
