Court of Accounts Recovers Over $362,000 in Fines from Public Officials.

The Court of Accounts of the Republic (CCR) has reported the recovery of $362,743.16 in fines imposed on public officials in 2023, following rulings by the First Instance Chambers of the State Comptroller’s Office.

This information was part of the annual report submitted to the Legislative Assembly last Tuesday, detailing payments made by public servants and third parties for fines related to administrative and patrimonial liability. According to the report:

  • $256,347.97 was recovered for administrative liability fines.
  • $106,395.19 was collected for patrimonial liability fines.

Audit and Legal Actions

Throughout the year, the First Instance Courts of the CCR processed 720 cases, resulting in:

  • 341 judgments and 1 final order issued.
  • 85 settlements reached.
  • 25 judgments enforced.

Of the 341 judgments, the report specifies:

  • 241 cases involved mixed rulings (both administrative and patrimonial liability).
  • 79 cases were for administrative liability only.
  • 21 cases addressed patrimonial liability exclusively.

The CCR’s efforts highlight its commitment to transparency and accountability in El Salvador’s public administration, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and recovering funds for the state.
