President Bukele: Lake Coatepeque Will Lead the Way in Environmental Restoration.

In a significant step towards environmental restoration, President Nayib Bukele officially inaugurated the installation of ultrasonic buoys in Lake Coatepeque, located in Santa Ana. This project aims to address the severe contamination that has plagued the lake for over a century.

“The contamination of Lake Coatepeque, which has persisted for more than a hundred years, will now serve as an example of how we can reverse environmental damage through investment, technology, and innovation,” President Bukele remarked during the event. He emphasized the importance of leveraging modern solutions to tackle the pressing issue of pollution.

The President also addressed the role of human activity in environmental degradation, pointing out that while human presence contributes to pollution, the narrative promoted by certain NGOs suggesting that the solution lies in poverty is misguided. “It is enough to observe that the poorest countries are often the most polluted,” he stated.

President Bukele underlined the importance of responsible development, stressing that investment in both the environment and sustainable growth is key to ensuring a better quality of life for future generations.

The ultrasonic buoys are expected to play a crucial role in improving the water quality of Lake Coatepeque and setting a precedent for other environmental projects in the region.
