Salvadoran Embassy and U.S. Nonprofit Donation Highlights Growing Support for Cancer Awareness in El Salvador.

In a recent humanitarian effort, the Salvadoran Embassy in the United States joined in delivering 200 hygiene kits to support cancer patients receiving treatment at the National Women’s Hospital and the Salvadoran Social Security Institute in San Salvador. The donation, organized by Ángeles Guerreros, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit, aims to aid individuals affected by cancer while also providing resources to victims of domestic violence to help them create entrepreneurial opportunities.

Ambassador Milena Mayorga highlighted the significance of this initiative during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, emphasizing the solidarity shown with those affected by cancer. “This delivery of kits is a testament that we stand with patients battling this disease,” she stated. Ambassador Mayorga thanked Ángeles Guerreros for their efforts in organizing the fundraising that made this donation possible, underlining the cooperation as a symbol of the bond between the Salvadoran government and the diaspora community.

The ambassador also mentioned the alignment of this effort with the healthcare improvements led by President Nayib Bukele’s administration. She emphasized plans to continue building on initiatives such as knowledge exchanges with U.S. healthcare professionals to share best practices in medical care.

Deputy Health Minister Dr. Carlos Alvarenga expressed gratitude for the embassy’s support in advancing various health ministry projects. “As a government, we are doing what is necessary, but it is essential to engage all contributors to drive the change our country needs,” he added. The event also saw the participation of Ingrid Lizama, Deputy Director of the National Women’s Hospital, further reinforcing the collaborative nature of this initiative.
