El Salvador Brings Bold Creativity to Nicaragua’s Fashion Spotlight.

Thanks to the efforts of the Salvadoran Embassy in Nicaragua, based in Managua, El Salvador had the honor of participating in the thirteenth edition of “Nicaragua Diseña.” This annual event, one of Nicaragua’s most significant in the fashion industry, took place from October 25 to 27 and showcased Central American talent.

El Salvador opened the event, featuring a collection by renowned Salvadoran fashion designer Celina Arévalo. She presented 17 pieces for men and women in shades of white, gray, black, brown, and blue, drawing inspiration from the neo-Gothic architecture of El Calvario Church. Her collection emphasized tailored pieces like blazers, vests, and trousers, blending traditional designs with a bold, avant-garde touch. During the show, Arévalo expressed gratitude to the Salvadoran Embassy for their support, stating, “This collection reflects our historical heritage, and I’m proud to showcase it on this international stage.”

Other Salvadoran designers, including Carolina Guerrero, Kathia Galindo, and Azucena Márquez, also participated. Guerrero, known for transforming waste materials into fashion, presented her collection “Liberosis,” a tribute to the freedom every woman seeks. The collection included skirts, dresses, flared pants, asymmetric tops, bags, and earrings, crafted from recycled textiles, tires, and plastics.

Galindo and Márquez, winners of a competition promoted by SINCATEX and “Moda por una causa,” displayed 21 pieces for both men and women. Their collection featured a vivid palette of red, pink, and white, ending with bold black floral-patterned designs.

Salvadoran visual artist Ariel Vásquez, trained in Nicaragua, also presented his artwork, adding a unique creative dimension to the event. Salvadoran Ambassador to Nicaragua praised the event organizers, stating, “We are grateful for the opportunity to foster cultural, commercial, and economic exchange. Congratulations to Celina Arévalo and all the Salvadoran talents for making us proud on the runway.”
