El Salvador recently showcased its vibrant fashion industry at the seventh edition of Fabric Multicultural Australia – FOMA 2024, a major textile and fashion exhibition that leverages multicultural creative sectors to promote global design and fashion.
Held in Sydney, a city known for its rich cultural and commercial exchanges, FOMA 2024 was organized by local authorities to use visual arts and textile design as a channel for cultural exchange and to identify business opportunities.
El Salvador’s participation was a coordinated effort between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CONAMYPE, FANTEL, SMODA, and the Embassy of El Salvador in Australia. The Salvadoran delegation presented a stand and participated in the fashion show, aiming to position Salvadoran brands in Australia and reach a broader network of Australian vendors and consumers.
Representing El Salvador were four talented designers: Hebras de Mahi, Punto Bella, Joyas y Añil, and Pacatus. They presented the capsule collection “Origen,” a showcase that blended Salvadoran cultural heritage and creativity in fashion.
FOMA provides a platform for networking through panel discussions, fashion shows, and cultural exhibitions, offering international designers the opportunity to make their mark on the Australian market.
In the 2023 edition, El Salvador participated alongside countries such as Fiji, Israel, and Morocco, achieving success in terms of cultural exposure and commercial opportunities.
The event attracted business leaders, fashion designers, traders, Australian officials, and fashion enthusiasts from around the world.
