The Salvadoran government, with support from Japan, inaugurated educational farms and delivered machinery to benefit students at the National Institute “Dr. Francisco Martínez” (INFRAMS). Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adriana Mira, attended the event.
Since 2023, this initiative aims to strengthen agricultural education through new technologies, updated curricula, and modernized learning spaces. “These facilities are designed to modernize agricultural education, developing productive, professional, and entrepreneurial skills,” said Vice Chancellor Mira.
The project includes enhancements for practical teaching in poultry, pig farming, and cattle ranching. Similar improvements are being made at the National Institute “14 de Julio de 1875” in Morazán. Japan provided $1.5 million for these projects, executed by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.
Minister of Education Mauricio Pineda highlighted the importance of the agricultural sector for economic growth. Student Diego Leiva noted the initiative’s positive impact on their education and future opportunities.
Ambassador Yoshitaka Hoshino represented Japan at the event, which also featured the Technical Secretary for External Financing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SETEFE), Óscar Figueroa.
