Salvadoran residents in Italy, Spain, Sweden, France, and Germany can now renew their driver’s licenses online, thanks to a new service enabled by the Government of El Salvador through the Vice Ministry of Transport (VMT).
The VMT has outlined the steps for citizens to complete their renewal application. First, they must visit the website www.sertracen.com.sv and locate the option to apply for a driver’s license renewal. After completing the required payment, the system will process the application, and the applicant will be notified when the renewed document is ready for collection at the designated consulate or embassy.
To retrieve the renewed driver’s license, the applicant must verify their identity using fingerprint scanning or biometric facial recognition. Initially, the online renewal service will be available in the following cities: Rome, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Stockholm, Paris, and Berlin.
The VMT announced that additional cities will be integrated into the service to facilitate document delivery to more Salvadorans. The institution emphasized that updates will be provided through their various digital platforms.
