Nayib Bukele, as the presidential candidate for the Nuevas Ideas party, is at the forefront of the public’s preferences, leading the pack for the upcoming February 4th elections, as revealed in a recent survey conducted by the Center for Citizen Studies at Francisco Gavidia University (UFG).
Based on the simulated voting data, Bukele currently commands an impressive 68.4% of the overall voter intention. This leaves the opposition trailing behind significantly, with the ARENA presidential formula securing a mere 4.3%, the FMLN at 2.8%, Nuestro Tiempo at 2.0%, and Fuerza Solidaria at 1.5%. The remaining percentages encompass null votes, abstentions, and respondents who opted not to disclose their preference.
The President, Nayib Bukele, formally declared his candidacy on September 15, 2022, and successfully secured his position through internal party elections held on July 9th earlier this year.
Nationally and internationally, Nayib Bukele has gained prominence for his resolute efforts against gang violence, which had previously wreaked havoc on law-abiding citizens.
According to the UFG survey, an impressive 39.5% of citizens indicated that Nayib Bukele’s policies were of the utmost importance to them and their families. Coming in second was religious beliefs at 38.9%, followed by political loyalty to the Nuevas Ideas party at 4.3%.
Moreover, the general sentiment among the population is that Nayib Bukele is seeking a second presidential term to fulfill outstanding promises and continue his fight against gang-related issues.
