The American Chamber of Commerce in El Salvador (Amcham) believes that the reduction in crime is a favorable factor for the arrival of more private investment from the United States to the country.
Recently, the executive director of Amcham, Carmen Aída Muñoz, stated in an interview with the media that the improvement in security favors the arrival of more American investments in El Salvador.
“The security factor can attract more investments […] The investor currently evaluates not only El Salvador but the region. When evaluating the region, he sees the security issue, and then sees that Guatemala has a very serious security problem, Honduras also has a very serious security problem, and El Salvador no longer has it. That is a plus,” she said.
At the same time, she indicated that the 332 companies affiliated with the guild, and which are of American capital, perceive a climate of security in the territory.
“Investors perceive a climate of security. Investors feel safe in the country,” she added.
Carmen Aída Muñoz, executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce in El Salvador (Amcham), stated that the improvement in security in the country is a “plus” for more investors to consider investing in the country, compared to other countries in the region.
Muñoz detailed that there are several new investments “on hold” that could enter the country. The executive indicated that El Salvador is no longer competing with countries in the region but with the Dominican Republic and Colombia.
