The Minister of Health, Francisco Alabí, gave a press conference addressing salvadorans and calling for them to remain calm, given the current situation of COVID-19.
“In the comparison between ICU patients last year and this year, we observed that the number of patients went from 125 in 2021 to 7 this year,” Minister Alabi mentions.
During the conference, the head of Health emphasized that despite the increase in cases, hospitalizations remain well below the average of what happened last year.
“According to parameters of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it positions us in a low-risk country for COVID-19,” said the minister.
In addition, the head of Health remarked that the average number of hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants is 1.9 in seven days, less than the 10 established by the CDC to define a low risk for COVID-19 in a country.
Alabí reminded the population that the biological against COVID-19 is available to receive a third or fourth dose.
“We will continue with the mission that President Nayib Bukele entrusted to us: to do what is necessary to take care of the health of Salvadorans,” said the minister.
