The Security Cabinet executes a million-dollar drug seizure

The authorities of the Security Cabinet once again dealt a heavy blow to drug traffickers operating in the country. The Minister of Defense, René Merino Monroy, declared that the seizure of a boat with around 800 kilograms of cocaine is valued at $20 million.

The boat was intercepted by the Naval Force of the Armed Forces of El Salvador last week, 574 kilometers south of La Concordia.

In said procedure, the security authorities captured six Mexicans, one of whom shot at authorities to avoid arrest.

The Mexicans were identified as: Noé Mendoza López, Gabino Elorza Santos, Iván Jesús García, Gildordo Lavariega Rodríguez, Jesús Dart Nicanov and José Martín Ojeda.

The Minister of Justice and Security, Gustavo Villatoro, stressed that this is further evidence of the irrefutable results of the Territorial Control Plan, which includes the guidelines given by the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, to combat drug trafficking.

«There is no way back. We will continue to act forcefully. We will continue this effort and bring criminals behind bars» — he added.

He assured us that those captured will be detained and that the Mexican embassies will be notified.

«It is important to emphasize that this work is carried out in an articulated manner. These seizures are part of the effort that we develop as a Security Cabinet» — he assured.

Villatoro assured him that the Naval Force has generated changes in the cartels that use international waters for the transit of cocaine.

The coordinator of the Security Cabinet reported that, in addition to these seizures, they continue with the War Against Gangs, directly impacting criminal structures.
