Trust phase inmates begin the removal of graffiti made by gang members in Salvadoran territory

The director of Penal Centers, Osiris Luna, reported that they have begun work to “eliminate all terrorist graffiti at the national level” in accordance with the order issued by President Nayib Bukele.

“The gangs will never again cause anxiety, delimit territories or instill fear in the communities with their graffiti” — Luna said.

The head of penal centers also explained that while they will arrive at different places in the national territory. “We started in the community on April 22 to erase all the graffiti that exists on each of the walls” — he explained.

According to Osiris Luna, the challenge is “not to leave a single trace that the gangs have existed, we are going to end them socially and we are already doing it in numbers because they are being taken to prisons.”

It is worth mentioning that the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, announced on Thursday that, so far, the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Armed Forces have made 7,467 arrests of gang members.
