The Minister of Education reports that more than 94% of students have already received their computers

The government of President Nayib Bukele made the decision to deliver a computer to each student in the public education system, with the purpose of breaking the existing digital divide in the educational area.

The Minister of Education, Mauricio Pineda, indicated that to date, 94% of students between fourth grade and high school have already received their computers.

“There shouldn’t be any student in the education system who doesn’t have this technological equipment (computer); In addition, the Ministry is making an effort to develop adequate programs” — said Pineda.

For the provision of equipment, both to students and teachers, the MINED invested more than $400 million.

The Minister added that the Ministry of Education (MINED) is working to generate the appropriate content for each educational platform, in order to guarantee the right to education for children and young people.

Therefore, the MINED is currently analyzing possible reforms to the educational curriculum due to the fact that the coronavirus pandemic forced content to be prioritized.
