El Salvador and Haiti have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation against organized crime, following a high-level meeting between their foreign ministers on the sidelines of the 30th Ibero-American Summit in Madrid on November 3, 2026.
Haitian Foreign Minister Raina Forbin met with El Salvador’s Foreign Minister Alexandra Hill Tinoco to discuss joint efforts to confront armed criminal groups and support the restoration of security in Haiti.
During the meeting, Forbin expressed solidarity with El Salvador following the attack on four members of its military contingent participating in international security efforts in Haiti. Hill Tinoco, in turn, reaffirmed President Nayib Bukele’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening Salvadoran support, both through participation in the Gang Suppression Force and bilateral cooperation, in accordance with Haiti’s sovereignty and the needs identified by its authorities.
Both ministers also agreed to deepen the exchange of expertise in combating organized crime, protecting children vulnerable to gang recruitment, and advancing disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration programs.
The meeting reflects the two governments’ intention to strengthen their strategic partnership and coordinate efforts toward greater security, stability, and development for the Haitian people.
