President Nayib Bukele reaffirmed El Salvador’s support for the Haitian people amid the country’s ongoing security crisis, addressing the influence of armed gangs and groups he described as betraying Haiti’s national legacy.
In his remarks, Bukele said Salvadoran forces stand alongside Haitians in their efforts to regain control of their communities and country. He framed the security challenge as a struggle against criminal organizations and those who enable their activities.
“We are on the same side as you. We will help you take back the country from the hands of the traitors who betray Dessalines’ legacy. And, finally, Haiti will be free,” Bukele stated.
The message reinforces the Salvadoran president’s position that his country’s involvement in Haiti is intended to support efforts to confront gang violence and help restore security and stability.
