President Nayib Bukele leads the latest MITOFSKY and TResearch International approval ranking for the Americas, receiving 90% approval and placing El Salvador’s president at the top of the regional list.
The September 2026 ranking places Bukele 18 percentage points ahead of Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum, who records 72%, while Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney follows with 61%. The three are the only leaders in the Americas to surpass the 60% approval threshold in the latest measurement.
The result also places Bukele first among the 20 American leaders evaluated and at the top of the broader global ranking, where Russian President Vladimir Putin follows with 76%.
MITOFSKY noted that the figures show a significant gap between Bukele and the rest of the leaders in the Americas. The firm also emphasized that approval levels vary considerably across countries and that the ranking itself does not establish a specific cause for each leader’s level of support.
Following the publication of the ranking, Bukele reacted to the result with a brief message on social media: “It’s lonely at the top…”
The latest figures reinforce Nayib Bukele’s position as the highest-rated president in the Americas in the September 2026 MITOFSKY-TResearch ranking, placing El Salvador at the center of a regional comparison of presidential approval.
