El Salvador’s real estate momentum continues to gain speed as local developer Progressus officially broke ground on Reforma 150, a $38 million mixed-use project in the prestigious San Benito neighborhood of San Salvador. Designed to blend urban connectivity with upscale living, the development features an 18-story residential tower housing 75 apartments and six penthouses, alongside an integrated five-story corporate office building. Over its estimated 18-month execution period, the project will generate 1,100 jobs, adding to the 187,000 workers currently supported by the national construction sector.

Engineered to meet modern lifestyle demands, Reforma 150 offers a comprehensive suite of amenities, including a coworking space, gym, swimming pool, pet-friendly park, spa, rooftop fire pit, running track, and valet parking. By combining premium residential units with corporate spaces in a single architectural vision, the development responds to growing local and international demand for high-end urban living. Public officials noted that public infrastructure investments in the capital will complement this private expansion to ensure the project seamlessly integrates into the surrounding community.

The investment reflects a broader economic transformation across the country, where enhanced public safety has catalyzed a major construction and investment surge. According to Luis Rodríguez, Executive Director of the Planning Office of the San Salvador Metropolitan Area (OPAMSS), construction has become the primary engine driving the national economy, boasting over 30% growth last year and a further 13% expansion this year. Rodríguez highlighted that a second wave of public investment is actively encouraging private developers to expand their footprint throughout the capital region.

Looking ahead, San Salvador’s urban landscape is set for a dramatic transformation, with OPAMSS currently managing 187 high-rise projects and 780 residential, commercial, and industrial developments totaling over $7.12 billion in approved investments. As Rodríguez emphasized, “We have managed to generate more than 1,900 new companies, and the sectors surrounding construction have grown by around 50%, reflecting the permanent dynamism of the industry.”Driven by this rapid development, projects like Reforma 150 are redefining the capital’s skyline and positioning El Salvador as an emerging hub for regional investment.
