El Salvador is preparing to welcome international visitors as the country hosts the official World Tourism Day 2026 celebrations from September 25 to 27, bringing global attention to its landscapes, cuisine, markets, and local communities.
UN Tourism has highlighted the country as a destination to experience through its diverse cultural and natural offerings, encouraging travelers to discover El Salvador through the five senses, from its Pacific coastline and traditional markets to its food and community experiences.
The country was officially designated as host of the 2026 World Tourism Day celebrations, with the event centered on the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism.”
The three-day program will combine tourism activities with cultural experiences and discussions focused on the future of the industry. The agenda is expected to showcase destinations across El Salvador while bringing together international tourism representatives and local stakeholders.
The main observance will take place on September 27, the date recognized globally as World Tourism Day. By hosting the 2026 edition, El Salvador will place its tourism destinations and emerging technology-focused approach to the sector before an international audience.
