El Salvador’s Minister of Labor, Rolando Castro, announced a major expansion of the country’s Labor Migration Program, introducing Italy as a brand-new destination for Salvadoran workers. Promoted under the administration of President Nayib Bukele, the bilateral effort will deploy nearly 100 professionals, specialists, and technical workers to the European nation, making it one of the largest contingents dispatched since the initiative began.
The inaugural group features nationwide representation, drawing skilled personnel from departments such as San Salvador, Ahuachapán, Santa Ana, San Miguel, La Paz, and San Vicente. Official deployments are scheduled to begin next week, targeting assignments in northern Italian cities including Somma Lombardo and Asti.
Highlighting the scope and significance of the upcoming trips, Labor Minister Rolando Castro emphasized the life-changing impact for participants, stating that “these individuals are not only packing basic necessities in their luggage, but also dreams of growth, transformation, and helping their families succeed.”
The Ministry of Labor assured that the overseas workers will benefit from robust legal protections and favorable labor conditions under Italian law. By successfully branching out into European markets, the program continues to broaden legal labor mobility avenues for Salvadorans seeking regulated, short-term international employment opportunities.
