El Tunco has reached 100% hotel occupancy as El Salvador hosts the 2026 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, highlighting the growing impact of Surf City El Salvador on coastal tourism and the local economy.

According to Tourism Minister Morena Valdez, hotels and accommodations in the popular El Tunco beach area are fully booked during the international competition, reflecting increased demand generated by the arrival of athletes, delegations, and visitors.

Valdez said the strong occupancy levels also demonstrate growing investor confidence in El Salvador’s tourism sector, noting that new accommodations are expanding in the area and contributing to greater economic activity along the coast.

The Surf City El Salvador ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2026 brings together more than 400 young surfers from 56 countries, positioning the country as a major destination for international sports tourism.

The tournament’s economic impact extends beyond participating athletes. Many competitors are traveling with relatives and supporters, prompting tourism authorities to organize excursions and activities that allow visiting families to discover beaches, cultural attractions, and other destinations across El Salvador.
