El Salvador Expands Bitcoin Education Through Hands-On Lightning Network Training

El Salvador is expanding practical Bitcoin education by introducing participants to everyday digital payments through the Lightning Network.

Casa Bitcoin, an educational initiative in El Salvador, is encouraging participants to learn about Bitcoin through direct experience, with a particular focus on practical skills and peer-to-peer transactions.

As part of its training activities, participants receive initial funding of approximately $2 to establish Lightning channels, allowing them to experiment with the network without needing to begin with significant capital. The hands-on approach enables users to create multiple invoices, send and receive P2P Bitcoin payments, review transaction histories, and analyze network fees.

The initiative also places emphasis on repetition and practical learning, allowing participants to become increasingly familiar with the process of using Bitcoin for digital transactions.

By incorporating the Lightning Network into educational activities, Casa Bitcoin is helping demonstrate how Bitcoin can be used beyond investment, particularly as a tool for fast and low-cost digital payments.

The focus on practical training also extends to older adults, highlighting efforts to make Bitcoin education more accessible and demonstrate how different generations can engage with emerging financial technologies.

El Salvador’s continued development of Bitcoin-focused educational initiatives underscores the country’s broader experiment with cryptocurrency and digital financial tools, with hands-on learning playing an important role in building familiarity and confidence among new users.
