The Government of President Nayib Bukele is expanding access to comprehensive health services for girls, adolescents, and women in eastern El Salvador through the deployment of two mobile care units that will serve communities across 14 districts.
The units were delivered at the Urban Center for Well-being and Opportunities (CUBO) in the Milagro de La Paz neighborhood of San Miguel as part of an initiative promoted by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in partnership with the Salvadoran Government.
The mobile teams will bring comprehensive health guidance, mental health support, and specialized care directly to communities, helping reduce barriers to timely services and strengthening access for women and girls in the eastern region.
Carlos Marroquín, director of the Social Fabric Directorate, emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to extending services beyond the country’s main urban centers. He also highlighted mental health as a national priority.
International partners expressed their support for the initiative. European Union Ambassador to El Salvador Duccio Bandini reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to Salvadoran youth, while Karla de Palma, director of ESCO at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the project forms part of broader international cooperation efforts addressing national priorities.
The deployment of the mobile units represents another step toward bringing women’s health, mental health, and specialized services closer to communities, particularly in eastern El Salvador, while strengthening cooperation between the government and international partners.
