The World Bank has highlighted El Salvador’s education transformation under President Nayib Bukele, recognizing the country’s pioneering efforts to integrate artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and real-time data into the public education system to prepare students for the jobs of the future.
According to the World Bank, the reform is placing technology and AI at the service of learning, benefiting more than 500,000 students nationwide while strengthening the skills needed in an increasingly digital economy.
President Bukele emphasized that the transformation represents a long-term investment in the country’s future. “Sowing today to reap the fruits in a decade… But we will see the tree grow already!” he stated, underscoring the government’s vision of building lasting educational progress through innovation.
The World Bank described El Salvador’s initiative as a pioneering model, noting that the combination of artificial intelligence, digital learning tools, and data-driven decision-making is helping modernize classrooms and improve educational outcomes for hundreds of thousands of children.
The recognition reinforces El Salvador’s efforts to position education as a strategic pillar of national development, with technology and innovation playing a central role in preparing the next generation for emerging economic opportunities and the evolving global workforce.
