El Salvador has expanded its international Bitcoin strategy with the official inauguration of its new Bitcoin Embassy in Lugano, Switzerland, a city widely recognized for its strong commitment to Bitcoin adoption and digital innovation.
The inauguration, held on July 1, marks another milestone in El Salvador’s efforts to strengthen international collaboration on Bitcoin education, innovation, and the digital economy. The initiative is expected to deepen cooperation between El Salvador and Lugano, fostering knowledge exchange and promoting new opportunities within the global Bitcoin ecosystem.
The opening ceremony was led by Honorary Consul Giacomo Zucco, a longtime Bitcoin advocate who has played an active role in connecting both jurisdictions through educational initiatives focused on blockchain technology and digital assets.
Among the flagship projects supporting this partnership are advanced educational programs such as CUBO+ and the Plan B Summer School, which aim to develop technical talent and expand expertise in Bitcoin and related technologies.
Since becoming the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, El Salvador has continued to position itself as a global hub for digital assets, attracting entrepreneurs, investors, developers, and technology-focused initiatives from around the world.
The establishment of the Bitcoin Embassy further reinforces the country’s commitment to international Bitcoin diplomacy, education, and innovation while strengthening ties with one of Europe’s leading centers for digital asset development.
