El Salvador’s ambitious National Stadium project has officially reached the 50% construction milestone, keeping the mega-infrastructure piece fully on track for its highly anticipated 2027 completion. Following the 33rd technical review meeting between the National Sports Institute (INDES), presidential staff, and the contractor China State Construction, officials confirmed that the civil works are progressing smoothly with no reported delays after two and a half years of active execution.

The state-of-the-art venue will feature a massive capacity for 50,000 spectators, with the flexibility to expand up to 60,000 seats. Designed to meet modern international standards, the arena will include dedicated VIP areas, media centers, emergency medical zones, fully accessible seating for people with disabilities, and a parking lot built to accommodate 2,000 vehicles. Crews have already shifted focus toward external works, initiating the granular and cemented base layers for the northern parking sectors.

INDES President René Martínez expressed complete confidence in the timeline, noting that the highly organized construction team expects to fully deliver the facility by mid-2027. “These technical meetings keep us updated,” Martínez stated, highlighting the tight coordination with the presidency’s executive unit. “Today we can say we are at the halfway mark… Everything is on schedule, and we expect to meet the projected dates.”

This landmark project represents a significant leap forward for Central American sports infrastructure, blending high-capacity design with modern architectural accessibility. As heavy construction transitions into peripheral and structural finishes over the next year, El Salvador remains steadily positioned to debut one of the most advanced sporting arenas in the region.
