The Ministry of Public Works of El Salvador has publicly denied reports circulating on social media claiming that the new CIFCO project will be developed in the protected area of El Espino.
According to officials from Ministry of Public Works of El Salvador, the information being shared online is false and does not reflect the real location or scope of the project. Authorities clarified that the future development will not be built inside the El Espino Eco-Park, the Bicentennial Park, or any protected environmental zone connected to El Espino.
The institution explained that the project site is located across from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, in an urban development corridor where several public and private institutions already operate, including SICA, ILEA, Dr. José Matías Delgado University, FEPADE, residential complexes, commercial centers, and tourism-related developments.
Government authorities also reaffirmed their environmental commitment, announcing plans to launch a nationwide tree-planting initiative that will include reforestation efforts in El Espino and other areas across the country.
The clarification comes amid growing online debate surrounding the future of the CIFCO project, as the Salvadoran government continues promoting infrastructure modernization while emphasizing environmental protection and sustainable urban development in El Salvador.
