El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele became the first foreign leader to congratulate Costa Rica’s president-elect, Laura Fernández, following her victory in the national elections.
Bukele confirmed that he held a telephone conversation with the president-elect to extend his congratulations and express his best wishes for the new administration. “I have just congratulated Costa Rica’s president-elect, Laura Fernández, by telephone. I wish her every success in her government and all the best for the beloved brotherly people of Costa Rica,” Bukele stated.
During the call, the Salvadoran leader emphasized the importance of institutional success and stability for the development of Costa Rica, underlining the value of strong democratic processes in the region.
Bukele also reiterated his appreciation for the people of Costa Rica, reinforcing the ties of friendship and cooperation between both Central American nations.
