U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno shared details of his recent meeting with President Nayib Bukele during an official visit to El Salvador, highlighting the Salvadoran leader’s role in strengthening security and deepening cooperation with the United States.
Moreno praised Bukele’s approach to restoring safety and stability across the country, emphasizing the impact of security policies on Salvadoran families and the broader regional partnership. “The future is promising for El Salvador and President Bukele is a great friend of the United States,” the senator stated.
In a message published after the meeting, Moreno noted that Bukele has led a profound transformation by removing criminal groups from the streets, confronting narco-terrorism, and promoting security and economic freedom for citizens, while maintaining close collaboration with Washington.
The senator also expressed criticism toward the International Monetary Fund, arguing that its assessments of El Salvador do not reflect the country’s current financial stability. Moreno insisted that El Salvador’s outlook remains positive and reaffirmed President Bukele’s importance as a key ally of the United States in the region.
